Edinburgh - London

Head down the East coast with heavy snow on road near Newcastle nearly scuppering our 'support vehicle' but otherwise an uneventful trip as the ladies keep us entertained with their banter in the back. Arrived later than expected in London but luckily no one turns up at party on time...typical!!

Headed to the Sun pub in Clapham to say farewell to friends in London over several beers and other bubbles.

Sunday 23rd March

London, UK - Reims, France

Escaped London having said sad farewells to our nearest and dearest. Heavy rain played havoc with electrics proved when the horn started erratically going off as we queued for the 1615 Seafrance ferry. Arrived in Frnace to more snow and headed for shelter in Reims as horn continued to blast everyone we passed at random intervals (finally disconnected in hard shoulder). Headed out for pizza.

Monday 24th March

Reims, France - Verbier, Switzerland

A very grey drive along the endless and perfect toll roads of France. Snow started falling as we crossed border at Briancon with customs taking an interest in our passports briefly but not asking for the normally obligitory tax sticker. Arived in Verbier to check into Hotel Phoenix before dragged out by friends Rich & Thomas for the first of many beers here!!

Sunday 30th March

Verbier, Switzerland – Meribel, France

Woke up feeling worse for wear and Andy took short straw for the drive after quick bite to eat at T-Bar in sunshine. Crossed border on way to Chamonix and took the obligatory photo in front of Mont Blanc. Hangovers kicked in hard to prevent much chat but eventually made it to Meribel to meet Nick’s family for dinner at their apartment. Bed was appreciated in hotel where we stayed with the British Ski Team who were competing at the British National Ski Championships this week.

Monday 31st March

Meribel

Snow was falling and visibility bad outside so utilised hotel wi-fi for some web updates and e-mails. Went to speak to the Land Rover Experience guys at bottom of race piste. Interest in our trip was minimal as they barely knew what a Defender was, but were happy to give us a shot on the new Range Rover on their course. Pub lunch with Nick’s wee brother followed by more admin then out for dinner with Nick’s family to say farewell. Headed out to ‘Le Pub’ to drink with some of the British Ski Team coaches and race organisers.
